Radisson Group supports carbon-negative meetings

For each event organised in its participating hotels between now and the end of March 2022, the Radisson Group will offset twice their carbon footprint. The initiative is called "Carbon Negative. Planet Positive".
The Radisson hotel group has become the first in the world to make meetings and events held in its 400 hotels in the EMEA region carbon neutral.
The Radisson hotel group describes itself as the first in the world to make meetings and events hosted in its 400 hotels in the EMEA region carbon neutral.

Le Radisson group does more than compensate for the organisation of meetings and events in these hotels. In more than 400 hotels in its portfolio, it even intends to make their negative carbon footprint through its "Carbon Negative. Planet Positive" initiative. For meetings booked between 18 October 2021 and 31 January 2022 and taking place before 31 March 2022, this programme involves free offsetting of twice the CO2 emissions corporate events hosted in the establishments.

The calculation of this carbon footprint is based on the HCMI methodology, established using the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative tool. Offsetting is based on Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard projects and can take the form of support for a drinking water programme in Kenya, various wind farm projects around the world or the protection of forests in Peru.

With the return of business travel, now is the time to make a positive impactsaid Inge Huijbrechts, Global Senior Vice President, Sustainability, Safety and Corporate Communications, Radisson Hotel Group. "Carbon Negative. Planet Positive" is an extension of the 100% Carbon Neutral Meetings programme launched by Radisson in 2019 and in place in the group's 1,600 hotels worldwide.

This programme, which is in line with the hotelier's CSR objectives - namely to reduce its carbon footprint by 30 % - has already seen the group offset more than 30,300 tonnes of CO2, at no cost to its customers. " The Radisson Hotel Group is constantly examining how we, as a global company, can influence positive climate action and how we can encourage the hotel industry to pushing back the boundaries of green meetings and events" said Eric de Neef, Executive Vice President, Global Head of Brand and Commerce.
