Manchester: the hotel district is taking shape at Airport City
An ibis budget and a Holiday Inn are about to open on the Airport City Manchester site, marking the birth of the hotel district of the Mancunian aerotropolis.

The ibis budget and Holiday Inn hotels will be the first to open their doors in the Airport City Manchester hotel district.

The Accor group is already well positioned at Airport City Manchester: after the ibis budget hotel, a Tribe hotel is currently under construction.
A pioneer in this new hotel district, the ibis budget will be limited to 262 rooms spread over seven floors. An equivalent capacity will be offered at the Holiday Inn Manchester Airport with 280 roomsThe IHG hotel is also equipped with meeting rooms, a business centre and the Firin restaurant.

The Airport City Manchester is based on a total investment of £1 billion (€1.16 billion), aimed at bringing together offices, logistics facilities, retail space and hotels over a ten to fifteen year period. All on a surface area of some 460 000 m². The hotel district should eventually total 2,400 new hotel rooms. The development of this aerotropolis will perhaps have the merit of eclipsing for a time the setbacks of the Manchester airport.
