
Just appeared at Berlinlifestyle brand The Hoxton is also taking to the skies of Brussels, having recently moved into the 22-storeyformer IBM headquarters. The Hoxton's resident design studio, AIME Studios, has transformed a brutalist-style office tower into a hotel, playing on the seventies atmosphere and the volumes of the space to create a distinctive aesthetic. This begins at the entrance, with a double-height lobby featuring a retro-style bar dotted with vintage chairs and sofas. For its arty feel, the establishment has called on local artists such as Bieke Buckinx, Madeleine Schilling and Claire de Quenetain, as well as collaborating with the NATIONA(A)L association.
Situated in the north of the Belgian capital, close to the Botanical Gardens and the Mima Museum of Modern Art - pending the inauguration of the KANAL-Centre Pompidou in 2024 - as well as Rue Dansaert, the beating heart of Brussels fashion, the hotel's surroundings reflect those of Ennismore, the lifestyle hotel subsidiary of the Accor group.
For travellers, The Hoxton Brussels has 192 rooms divided into three categories - Cosy, Roomy and Biggy - in retro tones. To enhance their stay, the hotel offers a flat roof where hotel guests and locals alike can enjoy the view over Brussels while sampling Mexican specialities. As well as cocktails made with mezcal and tequila, the taqueria Tope offers aguachile, pollo a la plancha, tacos, etc.
A hint of Mexico City or Oaxaca in the skies over Brussels, whilen the ground floor, it's an encounter with Peru in the hotel's Cantina Valentina. Open from breakfast to dinner, the Hoxton's restaurant features bright, colourful dishes such as ceviche, grilled chicken kebabs, quinoa or, in a cross-cultural twist, a Belgian classic revisited - tartare, or rather 'American fillet' - topped with aji panca, miso, coriander and... chips. That goes without saying.
Alongside these relaxed and festive offers, the hotel has not forgotten its professional past. The Hoxton is deploying its in-house concept for events and meetingsThe Apartment. These include meeting rooms grouped around a communal area comprising a dining room, lounge and games room. All of which can be made private during the day or in the evening, for parties extending out onto the private terrace.
The Hoxton will be adding a third link to its brand at the end of next summer, aimed at business travellers. coworking Working From_, already available in London and Chicago. Spread over four floors of the tower, this business space will offer open-plan offices and studios, with shared relaxation areas and pantries on each floor.
