
Eurostar recorded a significant increase in sales during the third quarter of 2011. This is according to the results published on Tuesday by the railway company, a 55% subsidiary of SNCF. Eurostar's sales reached €226.4 million (£197 million), an increase of 7 % compared with the same period last year. Nevertheless, passenger traffic remained stable (+1%), including for business customers: sales in Business Premier class increased by 2 % in the third quarter of 2011 compared with 2010. In a press release issued by the company on Tuesday, Eurostar's CEO emphasised: "We have posted good figures both for this third quarter and for 2011 as a whole to date, despite a difficult economic environment in Europe which requires us to remain vigilant. Nicolas Petrovic added: "Since the start of the year, we have seen an increase in both sales and traffic, which has strengthened our position and our appeal to both regular and new customers.
