The new fare structure unveiled by Thalys on 5 January gives a special place to business travellers. The company states that "to improve the experience of travellers, particularly business customers, Thalys is now endeavouring to group together, in each of the comfort classes, passengers who opt for the most flexible fares: Flex in Comfort 1 and Semi-Flex in Comfort 2". Professionals who opt for 1era Thalys will also be offering a range of tailored services, including high-speed Internet access, on-board catering, taxi and lounge reservations, and international press coverage. For example, Thalys has announced that a Paris-Brussels Flex journey will cost 141 euros, compared with 205 euros for a Paris-Amsterdam journey. The intermediate offer, Semi-Flex, will allow passengers to opt for the Comfort 1 or 2 categories, with free WiFi access even in second class. Fares start at €59 for a Comfort 1 ticket to Brussels. Thalys says it has based its new fares on a survey of travellers carried out in 2011, with the aim of meeting everyone's expectations.
