Disembarking from Delhi and connecting to Seattle? Why not take a break and admire the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre? Air France and Extime Travel have just launched Paris Stopover, a new offer designed to transform layovers at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport into real tourist stays.
Designed and operated by Extime Travel, the Groupe ADP brand responsible for commercial offerings and travel experience, this service aims to enhance the attractiveness of Paris and its region for international transit travellers.
It forms part of this ambitious initiative launched in 2025, Connect France, signed between Air France-KLM and ADP to strengthen the role of the Paris-Charles de Gaulle hub whilst promoting Paris and France as the world’s leading tourist destination. The launch of Paris Stopover thus marks the realisation of this strategic partnershipe.
According to the two partners, Paris-Charles de Gaulle is thus becoming the first major European hub to offer an integrated tourist service, allowing passengers to make the most of a long stopover between two flights. The potential is far from negligible: according to Air France, 50% of its passengers arriving at Paris-Charles de Gaulle are transferring to another destination.
Furthermore, the service meets a growing demand. According to a study by the Pégase Chair published in April 2026, 81 % of passengers transiting through Paris would like to be able to leave the airport to explore the capital or the surrounding area. This interest rises to 92.3 % among Brazilian travellers and 90 % among Indian travellers, the latter having benefited from an airport transit visa exemption in France since April 2026.
Air France Paris Stopover Open to All Classes
How does the Paris Stopover service work? The principle is simple. When booking their ticket with Air France, eligible passengers can choose an extended layover, on outward and return journeys. They then book a package with Extime Travel, including accommodation, transfers, and activities, for a stay of one to four nights.
The service is available to all Air France customers travelling in Economy, Premium, Business or La Première. Packages can be booked through Extime Travel up to 48 hours before departure, subject to availability, for passengers who have booked a long lay-over of at least 27 hours on the Air France website.
The first package deals highlight two flagship experiences. ‘Paris Incontournables’ offers a tour of the capital’s major attractions, including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the historic districts. A second package is dedicated to Disneyland Paris, with a family-friendly break.
Extime Travel is already planning to expand its catalogue with high-end experiences, cultural, gastronomic and festive tours, as well as excursions to areas around Paris-Charles de Gaulle. Each package includes transfers, one or more nights in four- or five-star hotels, and a programme of activities that can be tailored to the length of the stopover.
