The famous yellow taxis are getting ready to go green: the new taxi model presented on 3 April in New York by Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn and Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been designed to consume less fuel and limit its impact on the environment. As announced a few months ago, the new model - an NV200 minivan - will also offer a host of practical services, particularly for business travellers. These include two USB sockets for recharging mobile devices, and reading lamps. Passengers will also be able to adjust the air conditioning themselves, and speak to the driver by intercom. The new Nissan taxis will also offer extra legroom (around 25 cm) and luggage space, and will be equipped with a panoramic roof for a view of the New York skyline.
