Trivago barometer: Paris hotel industry on a strong upward trend this autumn

The bill for business travel to Paris was particularly high in September, according to the trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) published on Friday. The hotel barometer shows an increase of 48%.

Average hotel rates in Paris have risen dramatically in the autumn of 2012: after a sharp fall in August, prices are now sharply back on the rise, with an increase of almost 50%. This is the conclusion of the trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI), which shows an average overnight stay of €218. Apart from the necessarily distorted comparison with a particularly affordable August, there is also an upward trend over one year, with rates 7% more expensive than in September 2011. Other European cities are also experiencing the same back-to-school phenomenon, with increases close to 50% in Berlin, Brussels and Rome, while London has already entered the post-Olympic era. The British capital saw fares fall by 11% compared with August.
