Advito forecasts: 2013, a year of stability for business travel

On 8 January, Advito published its forecasts for the business travel market in 2013. The Industry Forecast forecasts stable demand over the coming months, with "minimal" changes in transport and accommodation prices.

The European business travel market is unlikely to see any major upheavals in 2013. At least, that's what emerges from the latest Industry Forecast published by BCD Travel and its Advito division, which sums up: "the trend is towards consolidation in the management of business travel and meetings". In concrete terms, the forecasts updated by the specialist business travel consultant predict a slight increase in air fares for Europe (between +2% and 3%). In this sector, Advito also warns that "travel managers and business travellers should bear in mind that North American and European airlines, like low-cost carriers, will be continuing with their surcharge policies, particularly for hold baggage and credit card payments". The price trend is likely to be much the same in the European hotel sector, where price rises are expected to be between +2% and +4%. This is a far cry from the surges forecast in other markets, notably Latin America (+8% to +14%) and Australia (+9 to +10%).
