It's a bad time for Boeing: the American aircraft manufacturer and its "star", the Dreamliner, have been in the spotlight for the last few days. Boeing 787 aircraft are grounded following the ban imposed on Wednesday night by the US aviation safety authorities. This is an exceptional measure, valid worldwide, and confirmed on 17 January by the European authorities. The ban follows damage to aircraft belonging to the Japanese airlines ANA and JAL within a few days of each other, apparently linked to battery problems. The investigation is under way to identify the causes of the problems, and Boeing says it is "confident" about the safety of its aircraft, while apologising to passengers affected by the incidents.
