Thalys stays on course in 2012

Despite a slight fall in passenger traffic, Thalys saw its sales increase in 2012 (+2.1%) in a difficult economic climate.

In total, some 6,600,000 people travelled on the red carriages of the Thalys network in 2012: a figure slightly down (-1%) on the previous year, but which has not prevented the rail company from improving its financial performance. The 2012 balance sheet published by Thalys on 21 February shows a slight increase in turnover (+2.1% to 479 million euros). "In this period of crisis and slowdown in trade, against a backdrop of environmental concerns, it is up to us in 2013 to further strengthen Thalys' relevance in relation to all other modes of transport," stresses Franck Gervais, CEO of Thalys International.
