We will have to wait until spring 2014 to see the first Air Canada Dreamliners make their appearance in the airline's fleet. For those who can't wait, however, the Canadian carrier has just released the first details of the layout of these 37 B787s, which will be configured in three classes - International Business Class, Privilege Economy Class and Economy Class - and equipped with new ergonomic seats, integrated into a new contemporary décor.
At the front of the aircraft, there will be a business cabin with twenty seat-beds (203 cm), individual screens (46 cm) and adjustable air cushions incorporating a massage function: a first in business class. In premium, the "Privilege Economy" cabin will offer 21 seats and will include top-of-the-range meals, a free beverage service and priority baggage check-in and delivery at the airport. Finally, Economy Class will offer 210 slimline seats in a 3-3-3 configuration. "The arrival of the first B787, due for delivery next spring, enables Air Canada to continue modernising its wide-body fleet by adding a modern, energy-efficient aircraft of the new generation," says Ben Smith, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Air Canada. "The introduction of the B787-8 and B787-9 is a key phase in Air Canada's fleet renewal and international expansion strategy. These aircraft will enable Air Canada to serve new international destinations as well as some existing routes.
