A difficult day ahead for business travellers, who are suffering the consequences of the strike launched by the main railway unions on 12 December to protest against the proposed rail reform. The strike is particularly noticeable on the RER B, which links Paris's CDG and Orly airports: on average, one train in four is running, compared with one in two on the other lines, while traffic is normal on the RER A.
On the SNCF mainline network, there were 7 trains out of 10 on average, and 6 trains out of 10 on most TGV routes. Unsurprisingly, the international network is relatively unscathed, with normal traffic on the Eurostar and Thalys lines, and to Germany and Spain. Only the Lyria network is experiencing some disruption, with seven trains out of 10.
The SNCF is working to keep passengers informed: 50,000 text messages and 70,000 emails are being sent to Main Line passengers, according to the rail company.
