Aloft: the robotisation of service is underway

Aloft has unveiled the features of its new butler, who bears a striking resemblance to Pixar's little robot Wall-E. With the recruitment of Botlr, the first 'robotic butler', the mid-range cousin of the Starwood group's W brand is taking another step towards automating hotel service, both in the rooms and in the lobbies.

The Botlr d'Aloft  is capable of taking the lift by itself and informing customers with ease. Starwood didn't choose just any place to present this initiative, but the Aloft Cupertino, not far from Apple HQ. The brand is demonstrating its taste for innovation not only through this high-tech service, but also through the new destinations it is offering. First in Bangalore, where this summer the brand opened a 191-room design hotel as part of the new Prestige Cessna Business Park. Then in December, the brand will also have a new hotel in the heart of Silicon Valley with the Aloft Sunnyvale and its 85 loft-style rooms. So, in addition to the one in Cupertino, will the brand's Californian establishment include a Botlr among its employees? The hypothesis is likely.
