In 1721, the pastor Hans Egede set off to evangelise the local populations on behalf of the Kingdom of Denmark and Norway. Gradually, the Inuit moved from shamanism to Lutheranism (here, the Ilulisat church, dating from the end of the 18th century).
Anchored to the frozen sea, the boats are not blocked in Ilulisat harbour. With the help of the snow, two men were enough to push them, sledge-style, into the water.
