With more low-cost flights than ever between Europe and the United States, have the 'traditional' airlines managed to adapt their offer? The search engine dedicated to the world of travel has compared the fares charged by airlines on the Paris-New York route between 2010 and 2016. The results show that the increasing density of low-cost airlines has - logically - driven prices down. Liligo estimates that 26% the average decline seen since 2010, with a average price of 535 eurosagainst 726 euros six years earlier.
Again according to Liligo, return flights from Paris to New York are even cheaper on some traditional airlines than on their low-cost rivals. For example, Icelandair offers the most attractive average rates (473 euros), while Norwegian Air (€575) ranks behind American Airlines (€533), United (€551) and Iberia (€564). According to Liligo, Air France's average fare is €718.
