The spirit of the place according to Guillaume Levy-Lambert

"Singapore is really my adopted city; I've lived here for over twenty years. I really like my neighbourhood, located between the tall buildings of the Central Business District and Chinatown, which is undergoing a complete renewal with all these old peranakan houses rehabilitated. My partner and I have opened our new gallery, Art Porters, in a beautiful house that is representative of Chinese-Malay culture. In fact, you can visit one of these historic houses near our home: the Baba House.

However, I like to cross the main thoroughfare that separates this district, which I love, from Chinatown to find some really nice cafés, bars and restaurants. I particularly like to have a drink at the Potato Head bar, in a beautiful listed building dating from 1939. You have to climb a few steps and you arrive in a pop, quirky atmosphereThe walls are painted with large multicoloured butterflies. You can also have lunch there. But for a more business-like meal, I recommend Cure, just a stone's throw away. It's a pocket-sized restaurant, but very contemporary, with an open kitchen. Everything is delicious, with combinations of foie gras and yuzu, veal and mango... all in a simple, sober decor.

I also like to wander a little further afield, in the Tiong Bahru district, where the covered market has just been redone, with one of those hawker stalls upstairs where you can eat very well for next to nothing. There are also a lot of new and very nice little cafés in this district, such as the Tiong Bahru Bakery and Forty Hands.

Level 2 qualification

In the Arab quarter, I never miss the opportunity to dine at Audace, the new restaurant at Wanderlust, an arty hotel where each of the 29 rooms has been decorated by a different designer. Not far away, in Little India, I love the Mustafa Center. More than a shopping centre, it's a veritable Alibaba cave, open 24 hours a day. If you prefer more sophisticated giftshead for the shop at the National Gallery Singapore, the museum dedicated to the art of South-East Asia from the 19th to the 20th centuries.^e and XX^e centuries. Housed in the former Supreme Court and the former Singapore City Hall, this museum was entirely designed by my friend, the architect Jean-François Milou, who also contributed to the scenography of my MaGMA collection. It's a magical place, and a must-see if you're visiting Singapore.

Another emblematic place of the moment - I say of the moment, because Everything changes very quickly in Singapore! -the Pollen restaurant. This is a very surprising establishment, as it is located in one of the greenhouses of the new botanical garden, the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay. So you can lunch or dine amongst the plants and flowers, in an elegant, relaxed and totally unexpected space, perfect for an original business meal. It goes without saying that the dishes are also... very flowery."
