The railway company SNCF will be testing temperature-checking devices from 21 July. Paris stations - starting with Paris Lyon on 21 July, followed by Gare de l'Est and Montparnasse on 5 August - will be the first to offer these "temperature checks". health terminals ". As participation in the trial is optional, passengers who volunteer to take part and who have reached the age of majority will be able to check their temperature before boarding certain TGV INOUI trains. Customers travelling on the trains concerned will be informed of this option in advance of their journey by email or text message.
Installed at the beginning of the platform, upstream of the boarding gates, the "health kiosks" are equipped with a thermal camera that measures body temperature remotely in four seconds. If there is any indication of temperature greater than or equal to 38.5°CIf the temperature is too high, SNCF staff will receive a notification on their terminal and will bring a new surgical mask and a sachet of hydro-alcoholic gel to the passenger. A second test with a forehead thermometer may be carried out by an SNCF agent if the passenger wishes to have their temperature confirmed. If the customer wishes to postpone or cancel their journey, the agent will inform them of possible postponement solutions, with ticket exchange or cancellation free of charge until 31 August.
To protect privacy, the SNCF specifies that a confidentiality filter is installed on the terminal, and that the temperature measured is not displayed on the terminal's screen or on the staff's terminal: staff only receive a notification with the number of the terminal concerned when the threshold is exceeded. The data is not stored: it is either deleted directly by the SNCF agent, or automatically after 10 seconds of display on the terminal.
