As the SNCF is due to make the official journey of the TGV M on November 6th, between the Paris-Lyon and Marseille Saint-Charles stations, the SNCF unions have filed a notice of strike for the day before, on November 5th.
The choice of the date is therefore not insignificant for the CGT-Cheminots, the UNSA-Ferroviaire, SUD-Rail and the CFDT-Cheminots, which intend to mobilize for:« jobs, wages, social and working conditions »According to them, « The austerity imposed on the SNCF reflects the government policy applied throughout the country ".
In a joint document, these four trade unions of the railway company point out, among other things,« the opening up to competition, austerity measures regarding the financing of the network, the lack of jobs impacting the level of safety of traffic and the living and working conditions of railway workers ".
The issue of wages is obviously not forgotten. The unions are demanding a general increase in wages, a rise in bonuses and the introduction of a thirteenth month, following the SNCF group’s good financial results in 2025 (1.8 billion euros in net profit).

The transport plan will be announced two days before the strike.
As early as November 3, the trade union federations are calling on their members to gather at the SNCF headquarters in Saint-Denis. That day is indeed scheduled to be the meeting on salary increases between the representatives of the unions and the management of the group chaired by Jean Castex. In other words, it is a warm-up event before the strike on November 5 and the call to participate in the demonstrations planned during this new national day of mobilization.
This will be a follow-up to the one on October 17, which brought together some 500,000 demonstrators in France, but led to numerous damages and looting of businesses in the major cities.
It is still too early to know what impact this social movement will have on the SNCF services, but disruptions could affect the TGV, Intercités and TER lines. It all depends on the number of strikers and their positions within the company, which will publish its 48-hour forecast transport plan on November 5. Will the inaugural journey of the M TGV, the following day, be maintained under these conditions?
