In between meetings, the Jardin National is a great place to take a break in the heart of the business district. Further south, the Stavros Niarchos Foundationdesigned by Renzo Piano, is worth escaping from Syntagma and its austere banks. This new cultural centre, inaugurated in 2016, now houses the national library and the opera, in a superb architectural setting dominated by a vast Mediterranean garden. The largest in the world, it is said. The garden is also ideal for a session of sport or yoga. On the way down, the Acropolis Museum is also well worth a visit, as much for the content of its collection as for its scenography.
