The arrival of tramway on the airport of Bordeaux Mérignac is becoming clearer. This 25 January marked the start of unladen trial runs. The aim is to inaugurate this new 5 km section in the spring, with as many new stations. These include Mérignac Soleil, Chemin Long, Cadera Issartier, Caroline Aigle and Aéroport.

6,500 passengers a day
La line A is expected to embark its first passengers to and from the Mérignac hub in the month ofnext April. Journey times between Place Pey Berland and the airport are expected to reach 35 minutes. Bordeaux Métropole, which has invested 90 million euros in this project initiated in 2019believes that 6,500 passengers should use this extension to line A every day.
The inauguration of the new section will be followed at the end of the year by another major event in the history of the tramway. The tramway will celebrate its 20th anniversary on 21 December 2023, and Bordeaux Métropole is preparing a number of events to mark the occasion.
