The new Business Traveler 2.0 service launched in May by iPass uses cloud technology to "fill the gaps in current Wi-Fi offerings by providing cost-effective and convenient access to more than 2.7 million Wi-Fi hotspots in airports, planes, hotels and public places around the world", according to a press release issued by the mobile services provider to businesses and telecoms operators. In practical terms, once identified, business travellers can automatically access a Wi-Fi connection that combines security and economy, from their smartphone, tablet and laptop.
To coincide with the launch, iPass has published a report on connectivity for business travellers, according to which three quarters of professionals surveyed believe that "the complexity of accessing Wi-Fi networks is a barrier to mobile working, limiting productivity and increasing costs". In addition, 36 % of users of free Wi-Fi have only limited confidence in its security, and 63 % of users of Wi-Fi paid for by credit card think the price is too high.
