Caracas, the most expensive business destination

Expertmarket has published a study on the cost of business travel around the world. This city-by-city ranking, based in particular on BCD Travel data, is dominated by Caracas. The Venezuelan capital is ahead of Geneva and Stockholm, with Paris in 8th place.

The "Old Continent" occupies a prominent place in the ranking published by Expertmarket, entitled "The Old Continent". Business Travel Costs Around The World "The 2014 Top 10 includes seven European business destinations, including Geneva (2nd, with an average daily spend of $547), Stockholm (3rd, at $528$) and Stavanger (4th, at $524$). Paris ranks 8th, with an average daily budget of 502$. However, the most striking feature of this compilation of data, obtained in particular from BCD Travel and Mercer Inc, is the top position in the ranking. Caracas dominates the 2014 rankings by a wide margin, spending an average of $611 per day. "This is certainly a surprise," points out the Business Travel Costs Around The World study, which also points out that the Venezuelan capital "features in the top 10 of many recent studies on the cost of living", dominating in particular the benchmark ranking for expatriation published by ECA. At the bottom of the pack, the "Bottom 20" features some top business destinations. Following in the footsteps of Guatemala City, the cheapest destination with an average of 209$, are New Delhi (245$), Kuala Lumpur (261$) and Montreal (322$).
