
After establishing itself on the banks of the Seine as part of the metamorphosis of the Morland housing estate into a lifestyle centre, the SO/ brand is now part of another ambitious urban project, theUptown Dubai. The new southern gateway to the city, just a few minutes from Zayed Road and Jumeirah Beach, this developing district embodies the ambitions of the DMCC free zone to consolidate its role as a global hub for commodities trading.
Formerly known as the Burj2020, Uptown Dubai has a number of towers, including two skyscrapers, one of which, planned to exceed 700 m, is still on hold. The other, the Uptown Tower, is already 340 m high in the emirate's skyline. While the diamond trade is one of the strengths of the free zone, the firm of architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill (AS+GG) drew inspiration from this to design the Uptown Tower. a multi-faceted tour and sustainable ambitions, with the aim of achieving LEED Gold certification.


The 72-storey Uptown Tower will house offices, a SO/ hotel and, on the top floors, 227 private residences managed by the chic lifestyle brand with privileges reserved for residents, including an indoor swimming pool and gym, a private cinema and a Sky Lounge. The hotel, due to open later this summer, will offer travellers 188 luxurious designer rooms and suites, with high ceilings and panoramic views, marble bathrooms and dark wood finishes.
The SO/ Uptown Dubai will also offer several upscale dining and entertainment concepts with a brasserie, a cuisine-focused table - the Citronelle Club - in addition to a poolside bar and a lively lounge bar. Business travellers are not forgotten either, with several meeting and conference roomsThere is also a ballroom with a capacity of 1,000 people.
In a more affordable style, Ennismore, the subsidiary of the Accor Group which oversees the destinies of its lifestyle brands, from SO/ to Jo&Joe, will continue to the development of the Tribe brand. Appeared at La Défense like London, Amsterdam or Phnom Penh, the brand launched in 2019 will continue to expand in Europe's major cities, with a hotel expected in Düsseldorf next year.
The result of the renovation of an existing establishment - a InterCity probably - located in the Friedrichstadt district, the hotel Tribe Düsseldorf will offer 146 functional, designer rooms in three categories: Comfort, Comfort Single and Comfort XL. The hotel, redesigned by the Feix&Merlin studio, will also feature a friendly lobby where guests will find a restaurant as well as a Grab & Go counter.
