The programme is reminiscent of the America of the Roosevelt years in the 1930s. "The New Frontier" is the name that ultra-low-cost Frontier Airlines has given to its transformation strategy. The aim is to enhance the customer experience while maintaining ultra-competitive fares.
There are a number of aspects to this strategy, which is aimed in particular at attracting business people. Firstly, on the network side, with the expansion of new routes to major hubs such as Atlanta, Washington-Dulles, San Juan de Puerto Rico, Miami and Chicago O'Hare.
Frontier has also carried out a major overhaul of its onboard product. "The New Frontier" notably introduced the UpFront Plus seat. This latter is located in the first two rows of the aircraft, offering more legroom and armroom, as well as a guaranteed free middle seat. The transformation will continue in early 2026 with the introduction of a First Class cabin, combining an unprecedented level of comfort at Frontier with fares true to its reputation as a low-cost airline.
The FRONTIER Miles frequent flyer programme has also been overhauled, offering its members greater flexibility and benefits.
Frontier now allows its members to use their miles not only for award tickets, but also for packages (" bundles") including certain key services such as baggage supplements, seat selection and no change or cancellation fees.
Rewards in the form of loyalty programme packages
As of today, members booking on FlyFrontier.com can redeem their miles for three main packages:
-
"Economy bundleFrom 2,000 miles, it includes one piece of cabin baggage, a selection of standard seats and no change or cancellation fees;
-
"Premium bundlefrom 4,000 miles, includes cabin baggage, a premium seat and no change or cancellation fees;
-
Business bundlefrom 8,000 miles, includes one piece of cabin baggage, two pieces of checked baggage weighing up to 23 kg each, one seat UpFront Plus and no change or cancellation fees.
" The New Frontier redefines what travellers can expect from value-based air transport "said Bobby Schroeter, Commercial Director of Frontier Airlines. " This new reward option offers more choice and flexibility to FRONTIER Miles members, with award tickets available from as little as 5,000 miles and complete bundles from as little as 2,000 miles. ".
FRONTIER Miles also wants to be seen as one of the most accessible loyalty programmes in the airline industry. Members earn miles quickly, at a rate of 10 miles for every dollar spent on Frontier products. This standard 10X multiplier increases with each Elite level, reaching 20X for the highest status. With the undeniable advantage of access to Elite status from 10,000 points, a deliberately low threshold by market standards.
