
Qantas continues to invest in the renovation of its lounges. According to an announcement dated 23 August, the next on the list will be those atAuckland, Brisbane, Hobart, SydneyTamworth and Tokyo. " Over the last few years, we have constantly renovated the lounges in our network. This next wave of announced improvements will enhance our customers' overall travel experience. "says Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas Group.
This time, Qantas has concentrated on its domestic market, with the exception of the airports of Narita to Tokyo and Auckland to New Zealand. This will see the 1st and Business merged into a format similar to lounges in London or Hong Kong. The Tokyo lounge will be refurbished and business travellers will now have access to more choice when it comes to eating out.
A new design and more space
On the domestic front, the airport lounges in southern Australia - Hobart in Tasmania and Tamworth in New South Wales - will be completely redesigned and enlarged. The Brisbanein Queensland, will be able to welcome from 2019 100 additional passengers thanks to its extension. Finally, the International First Lounge in Sydney will be renovated and increased in size (+15 %).
In addition, two other lounges are currently being renovated. In Sydney, the Domestic Business Lounge opens its doors on 24 August et will be offering the Australian airline's passengers Asian street food cooked by the brand new Spice Bar, but the work is not yet completely finished. It is expected to be completed in Novemberat the same time as the renovation of the Qantas Clubwithin Melbourne airport.
