Qatar Airways announced on Monday that it had reached an agreement to purchase 378,188,000 shares of Cathay Pacific. The Qatari company has thus acquired 9.61% of Cathay's capital.

This is not the first time that Qatar Airways has invested in other airlines. This strategy has already been put into practice with the acquisition of 20% from IAG (International Airlines Group), 10% from LATAM Airlines Group and 49% from Meridiana. Last June, the directors of Qatar Airways even mentioned the possibility ofinvest in American Airlines.
