
Sabreone of the world's leading airline reservation companies, ended its distribution agreement with the Russian airline Aeroflot. The announcement was officially made on Thursday 3 March. This decision prevents the Russian national carrier from being accessible on the reservation terminals of travel agencies. But also on online websites. "Sabre has been following developments in Ukraine with growing concern. We are taking a stand against this military conflict. We are complying, and will continue to comply, with the sanctions imposed on Russia. In addition, we have announced that Sabre has terminated its distribution agreement with Aeroflot. We are therefore deleting its contents from our GDS" said Sean Menke, CEO of Sabrein a press release.
Cut off from Sabre's reservation software, Aeroflot will also find it much harder to operate its domestic flights. On their side, Airbus and Boeing have announced the suspension of the supply of parts and services for Russian aircraft. This is effectively blocking airline maintenance services in Russia.

Amadeus IT Group, which supplies ticket reservation software to Russian airlines S7 and Ural Airlineshas followed Sabre's lead. It has published an official statement. In it, the European company explains thatit is in the process of ending its associations with Russian airlines.
"We will not be signing any new contracts in Russia and will continue to evaluate our existing portfolio in Russia in parallel," Amadeus said in a statement. The distribution of Aeroflot fares to systems connected to Amadeus is also being suspended.
