25 years after the creation of Voyages-sncf.com, which later became Oui.sncf and now SNCF Connect, SNCF Connect & Tech is extending its digital offering with the creation of Tesmo, dedicated to sustainable mobility in France and Europe. Tesmo stands for "Technology at the Service of Mobility".Its mission is to provide digital services and develop mobility solutions for towns, cities and regions. These may take the form of customised distribution and payment platforms, digital passenger information tools, ticket control and regularisation solutions, etc.
Businesses have not been forgotten, with Tesmo targeting the sale of door-to-door mobility management solutions. as part of the Sustainable Mobility Packagethe financial scheme for employees who use environmentally-friendly modes of transport when commuting to and from work. " With this new commercial brand, we are highlighting our technological expertise and our in-depth knowledge of the mobility sector." explains Anne Pruvot, Managing Director of SNCF Connect & Tech, in a press release. She adds: " We want to use digital technology to provide more extensive support to the many players in the sector, such as regions, cities, transport operators, urban transport networks and businesses, to meet the new needs and challenges they face." .
Staying one step ahead
At a time when the regions are seeking greater control over fares, distribution and passenger information on their TER networks as part of the opening up to competition planned between now and the end of 2033 (LOM law), Tesmo is also a way for SNCF to maintain a strong presence in the regions. Even if it loses certain contracts, such as with Transdev which will take over operation of the Marseille-Nice route on 29 June. " The profound and dynamic revolution in the mobility sector is being driven by digital technologysays Christophe Fanichet, CEO of SNCF Voyageurs and Chairman of SNCF Connect & Tech. We are going to use our new Tesmo brand as a strategic lever for growth and conquest in order to stand out in a competitive environment." .
Before Tesmo was created, SNCF Connect & Tech, which employs 1,300 people - up from 20 in 2000 - already had a strong consulting and digital services creation business, which last year accounted for €148 million of its €406 million turnover (+81TP3Q/2023). This subsidiary plays a key role in the ongoing development of SNCF Connect in order to continue its success, with 1.54 billion visits by 2024 and 226 million tickets sold, for a business volume of over 6.7 billion euros.
Now a genuine platform, SNCF Connect distributes train tickets from the railway company and its international subsidiaries, as well as urban transport tickets for around thirty cities, car hire, hotel rooms, etc. However, it is still closed to the sale of tickets from its competitors, Trenitalia and Renfe.
