Uber is continuing to diversify: after announcing at the end of July the launch of Uber Rent on the car rentalsector, it is now the motorbike taxis which is seeing the arrival of the multimodal platform. The Uber Moto service is expected to target business travellers with busy schedules who travel light. Each user will be limited to one piece of cabin baggage and one laptop bag or briefcase.
As part of the test phase, the two-wheelers - electric motorbikes and maxi-scooters - are currently only being used in Paris, La Défense, Neuilly and Boulogne. The Paris Orly and CDG airports are also covered. In addition, the service is limited to members of the loyalty programme Uber Rewards presented last January. As a rough guide, Uber officials estimate that a La Défense - Gare Saint Lazare journey (10 km) will cost around €56, excluding the period when fares are increased.
"No mask, no raceThe Uber application now includes a new feature designed to prevent non-masked customers from accessing its VTC fleet. As a result, if a user is reported by a driver for not wearing a mask, he or she will have to show "white patina" when making a reservation. A simple "selfie" will enable the application to detect whether the face is indeed masked, and thus validate the booking or not. |
