Business travellers will soon have no excuse not to work during their flights... Already available on board long-haul flights on several airlines - particularly in the United States - high-altitude WiFi is about to make its debut on the European short-haul network. Vueling will get the ball rolling this year, thanks to an agreement with Telefónica. As part of this cooperation, four Airbus A320s will be 'connected', offering travellers a transfer speed of 20 Mbps: "an experience similar to ADSL at home", says Vueling. "Until now, this type of data access was not possible over short distances in Europe, such as Madrid-Barcelona, for example," says the press release. "This opens up a world of possibilities for passengers: checking and replying to emails, updating their status on social networks or being connected to news and events in real time, for example". So how about being able to follow the French team's progress in Brazil while on your way to a business meeting? Who knows?
