Line 1 of the Paris metro, as well as the majority of lines A and B of the RER, will be the first to be affected by the roll-out of 3G and 4G networks, following agreements between RATP, Bouygues, SFR and Orange. The incumbent operator expects that "by 2015, 170 stations on the network will be connected, offering a mobile internet service to 75 % of passengers on the RATP network", according to the press release, which adds: "The entire RATP network will be equipped in 2016". Mobile Internet will be available both in stations and on trains, with the development of antennas starting in January 2014. "At a time of increased mobility and a greater need for connectivity, this new agreement with a mobile operator will enable RATP to offer new services to its customers," says Emmanuel Pitron, Secretary General of the RATP Group.
