US carriers post first profits since Covid crisis

For the first time since the start of the covid crisis in March 2020, US companies posted a profit of $1 billion, net after tax, in the second quarter of 2021.

According to US Bureau of Transportation statistics, US scheduled airlines of passengers reported a net profit after tax of $1 billion in the second quarter of 2021. Significant improvement despite pre-tax operating loss of $3.6 billion. The second-quarter results represent the first profit since the fourth quarter of 2019, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
