Special report - Budapest: Magyar baths in the capital

Eszter Toth - Sales Director, Dynamic Tours

Why is Budapest a top destination for incentives?
Eszter Toth - We have a wide range of event activities to offer and a cultural life that is well suited to the French market: an internationally renowned opera house, festivals, a unique heritage with nine UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the banks of the Danube or the Buda Castle district. The baths are an undeniable plus.

What are the requests?
E. T. - The Danube remains a major attraction. We offer a cruise on the Europa boat with a gala dinner. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs also lends itself to prestige evenings under the magnificent glass roof. A private evening at the opera is one of our most popular requests. There have been occasions when we have had to find more than 500 seats at the last minute! We can also hire out the neo-gothic salons in the Parliament building.

Is urban spa therapy popular?
E. T. - This is part of our themed programmes. The baths are usually reserved after opening hours for private bathing. We can organise a gala dinner in the foyer of the Gellert baths, with a capacity of up to 350 people. These privatisations can be combined perfectly with a cultural programme such as an Art Nouveau tour, a walking rally through Budapest or a treasure hunt.

What other themes do you offer?
E. T. - We get a lot of requests linked to the equestrian tradition and related shows. It's also possible to hire a steam train with an early 20th-century atmosphere. A Trabant rally is also available. Among the latest innovations, photo competitions have become popular. Gastronomic rallies are organised at the central market, one of the most typical locations.
