Smooth travel plans, comfort, mobile payment: business travellers are calling for a new quality of service as Europe's railways take a decisive step forward. The survey carried out by YouGov for Amadeus targeted 7,000 rail users in six European countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. What emerges is a natural attraction to rail travel, with 77 % of those surveyed favouring an international high-speed train over any other mode of transport, if the fare were competitive. Another finding is that passengers have high expectations of the booking system: almost 60 % of them would like to be able to book "connections with other trains or other means of transport" in advance, using a single ticket for all the means of transport used during their journey. The study also highlights the growing demand for on-board wi-fi, desired by 46% of passengers, ahead of the simplification and acceleration of formalities and check-in (38 %).
