Trainline and Concur publish the results of a survey of business customers of the rail booking platform previously known as CaptainTrain. In particular, the two business travel partners deciphered booking habits according to the gender of the traveller. The resulting infographic confirms the findings of other studies published in recent months: theanticipation would appear to be the preserve of women. In fact, more than a quarter of female business travellers (27%) book their train ticket at least two weeks before their business trip. Only 19% of their male counterparts are as far-sighted. Men would also a tendency to book at the last minuteIn fact, 40% of those surveyed book the day before or the same day as their journey. The proportion falls to 16% among the women surveyed by Trainline and Concur. This pronounced taste for late booking is probably linked to the relatively high rate of mobile booking among men, which reaches 37% compared with just 5% among women business travellers. Even though female business travellers book more in advance, they still pay more on average (108.70 euros) than their male counterparts, for whom the average ticket does not exceed 100 euros (96.93 euros).
Generally speaking, the study shows that Tuesday is the most common day of the week for a business trip (25%), ahead of Monday (20.7%) and Thursday (20.6%). Business travel is much less common on Fridays (10.7%), while a significant proportion (3.6%) of professionals anticipate the Monday meeting by taking the train on Sunday. There was also a peak in the number of visitors business travel is observed between the end of May and the beginning of June, with the month of July being abandoned almost unanimously by business travellers. Last but not least, Paris, Lyon and Lille are the busiest stations by business customers, ahead of Aix-en-Provence, Nantes and Bordeaux.
