Workspace: Egencia launches its environmental dashboard

Egencia has just unveiled its new "Workspace CO2 Emissions", a dashboard enabling travellers to visualise the impact of their trips, and travel managers to steer a more responsible travel policy.

The launch of "Workspace CO2 emissions was made official on 9 December by Egencia. The aim is to support companies on their journey towards sustainable business travel. This new tool takes the form of a dashboard calculating the emissions generated by the company for each trip.aerial and thehotels. It is then up to the company to take the appropriate measures to reduce its impact, and Egencia has already suggested a number of avenues, such as increasing fare ceilings to allow travellers to favour direct flights or eco-responsible hotels. This type of innovation should help to 'decarbonise' a business travel ecosystem that has certainly become aware of the environmental challenges, but is struggling to move from theory to practice. Indeed, just a few days before this announcement, SAP Concur and GBTA published a study pointing to the lack of focus on environmental issues in travel policies in Europe. According to the survey, while more than 70 % of travel managers believe that it is important to give travellers the means to encourage more environmentally-friendly travel, less than a third of them (31 %) include in their policy the use of suppliers who are concerned about the impact of business travel on the environment.
