
An increase in supply of 25% compared with 2019. This is what the Air France to Canada. In the summer of 2023, the company will operate flights to 50 flights a week to five destinations : Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver as well as Quebec and Ottawa during the summer season.
Ottawa is in fact a novelty. The link between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier (YOW) will be inaugurated on 27 June 2023. Five flights a week will be operated on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Frequencies will be in Airbus A330-200. The aircraft will have a capacity of 224 seats (36 in the Business cabin, 21 in Premium Economy and 167 in Economy).
Only airline between Europe and Ottawa in 2023
Air France will be the only airline operating direct flights between Ottawa and Europe. Lufthansa had in fact planned to launch on the Frankfurt-Ottawa route. Announced at the end of 2019 for a start in May 2020, the project disappeared with the Covid crisis. Like the Ottawa-London Heathrow route operated by Air Canada.
In addition to the non-stop flight Paris CDG-Ottawa, Air France will continue to offer two daily bus services between Montréal-Trudeau airport and Ottawa. Frequencies are adapted for connecting flights to and from Paris. This service is also available between Montreal-Trudeau and Quebec City, again with two daily frequencies.
Present in Canada since 1950, This summer, Air France will become the leading European airline in terms of capacity between Europe and Canada.
Seven Canadian cities for the Air France-KLM tandem
Air France has also announced the resumption of the line between Paris CDG and Quebec. Three flights a week will be operated by Boeing 787-9 on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 2 May 2023 throughout the summer.
On other France-Canada routes, Air France will link its Charles de Gaulle hub to three times a day with Montreal, twice a day with Toronto and once a day with Vancouver.
Via Amsterdam, KLM also offers a substantial range of services, with routes to Calgary and Edmonton in the West.. The Dutch company will offer 13 weekly flights to Toronto, 1 daily flight to Calgary and Vancouver, 5 flights a week to Montreal and 4 flights a week to Edmonton. There is also a KLM coach service between Montréal-Trudeau and Ottawa.
In 2022Ottawa welcomed 2.99 million passengers, including 93,000 on international routes (excluding the United States). This volume is equivalent to that recorded by the airport... in 1997! By comparison, the hub recorded a total of 5.1 million passengers in 2019. Including 426,000 on international routes.
