Business travellers drive Eurostar growth

Eurostar has posted positive results for the first half of 2014, with an increase in sales (+0.51 %) and passenger numbers (+2%). These good results have not gone unnoticed by corporate customers, with business travel recording above-average growth.

If the number of business travellers on board Eurostar can serve as a barometer of the economic context, the climate seems to be improving in 2014. During the first half of the year, Eurostar recorded a significant increase in business travel (+6 % in volume) compared with the first half of 2013. "After observing an economic improvement in the UK in recent months, Eurostar is now observing a similar trend in the French market, with business travel increasing on both sides of the Channel," note the cross-Channel company's executives. "This return to more normal travel patterns is certainly a sign of greater economic stability in the Eurozone," adds the press release.
