The Italian cruise operator, a leader in Italy and Europe, is adding two new ships to its fleet: the Costa Pacifica and the Costa Luminosa. The latter, from May 2009, will take passengers to discover original destinations in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. According to Costa Crociere, this will be its "most exclusive and innovative cruise ship, with excellent service and outstanding cuisine, all in a refined and elegant setting...". It will have 1,130 staterooms, including 772 with private balconies, an immense spa of over 6,000 m2, a large pool area distributed over two decks and featuring a removable glass roof, a giant cinema screen, an 18-hole golf simulator complemented by a 90 m2 putting green.
The Costa Luminosa will also have a Grand Prix car simulator, and sports enthusiasts will be able to jog on the long promenade or train on the roller rink. Finally, its theatre will be able to seat over 800 spectators. This jewel is one of five cruise ships ordered by Costa Crociere, which intends to have 17 ships by 2012, with a total capacity of 36,800 guests in double cabins.
