The Airbus A350-1000 is the latest model to be integrated by Abu Dhabi's national airline, Etihad Airways. An aircraft which, according to the airline's CEO, Tony Douglas, CEO of the Etihad Group, opens the doors to the future for the carrier.
" This is a new stage in our development, one in which this aircraft will enable us to achieve carbon neutrality even faster, by significantly reducing our CO2 emissions. In the aviation industry, we have set ourselves the target of reducing our emissions by 50% by 2035 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.. It's a challenge, but we're creating the conditions to make it happen." said Etihad's CEO.
Etihad's nec plus ultra will not be for Paris
The aircraft consumes 25% less fuel and reduces CO2 emissions by 25% compared with previous generations of aircraft. Noise levels are also 50% lower than older models.. Tony Douglas confirmed that Etihad has ordered 12 A350-1000s with an option for a further eight. The airline is due to receive five this year.
