The Hyatt group intends to further establish itself among business travellers passing through Berlin. Not that the American hotelier has lacked appeal until now, with the Grand Hyatt Berlin just a stone's throw from Potsdamer Platz, its ballroom capable of accommodating 850 people and its 9 meeting rooms. All this adds to other establishments such as the Me and All Hotel Berlin East Side, as well as the Lindner Hotel Berlin Ku'damm – a member of the JdV by Hyatt collection – and five Mr & Mrs Smith hotels.
Building on this, to perfect its presence in the German capital, the group will soon be establishing its business-oriented Hyatt Regency brand within the walls of a historic property: the Hotel Palace Berlin. Opened in 1968 – Willy Brandt, not yet Prime Minister but already Governing Mayor of West Berlin, delivered the inaugural speech – this property became part of the development of the Europa Center, Europe's first shopping mall, which opened three years earlier. It was a carbon copy of American-style shopping malls developed by businessman and investor Karl Heinz Pepper, complete with an office tower topped by the recognizable Mercedes logo and, somewhat later, a hotel.
Next door to Berlin Zoo and just a few minutes' walk from the Ku’damm, Hotel Palace Berlin has established itself as a flagship address in West Berlin, without ever stopping reinventing itself. The addition of a 102-room wing in 1988 and new suites just after the fall of the Wall, the opening of a spa in 2002 and a Club Floor in 2012: this member of The Leading Hotels of the World has undergone several evolutions over the decades.
As part of this, its business offering was also enhanced with the addition of a new floor dedicated to meetings in 1998, followed by the creation of a ballroom around 2003 and, in 2017, the unveiling of the Zoo I and II conference rooms as a vast foyer. Today, this creates a 2,600 m² MICE space comprising 18 rooms capable of accommodating nearly a thousand participants.
Before officially becoming the Hyatt Regency Palace Berlin in early 2027, the property is scheduled to undergo phased renovation to join the brand, with modernisation focused on public areas and guest rooms. As Germany's fourth Hyatt Regency—following those in Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Mainz—the hotel will offer 239 rooms and 39 suites, a Regency Club lounge, a renowned restaurant—beef45—as well as two bars.
