ITA moves closer to Skyteam

Launched on 15 October, the new Italian airline ITA is already beginning the process of joining an alliance. Skyteam seems to have every chance of joining, since Alitalia was already a member. But nothing is yet set in stone for ITA.

ITA has just taken off with ambitions to become the benchmark airline on the Italian peninsula. It is starting its activity with a limited network and a compact fleet compared to what Alitalia was before the pandemic.

For his debut, ITA serves 44 destinations via 59 airlinesin particular from Rome-Fiumicino (29.1% of capacity), Milan-Linate (27.4%) and Catania (5.6%). As a reminder, in October 2019, Alitalia's network comprised 78 destinations and more than a hundred routes.
