Are you satisfied with Transavia France's first few months in business?
Over the first three months we carried some 150,000 passengers, with an average coupon of 80 euros per journey. We have seen strong growth since the arrival of our third and fourth Boeing 737-800s in June and July. Our network now includes nine destinations. And our aim is to expand our fleet to nine or ten aircraft to serve around fifteen destinations by 2008.
Do you follow the pure low-cost model?
Absolutely. Our planes fly eleven hours a day to destinations that are an average of two and a half hours away. There are no reserved seats on board and we serve pay-what-you-can meals. This does not prevent us from offering an excellent quality of service. However, there is a difference with low-cost airlines: 20 % of our customers come from tour operators.
Are you in competition with Air France and are you planning a departure from Paris?
We complement Air France because we only serve routes that are not operated by our parent company. For example, we are the only airline to offer a non-stop flight from Paris to Heraklion. Over the first three years, I think we will remain focused on our Orly base, in order to optimise the use of our fleet.
