WOW air is strengthening its service between Paris CDG and Reykjavik. From 27 March 2017, the Icelandic low-cost carrier will switch to twice-daily service from Paris in March 2017, with an additional flight taking off in the evening. Other routes to London Gatwick and Amsterdam Schipol will also see their frequency increased to two daily flights.
This move to two daily services will strengthen the opportunities for low-cost connecting flights to North America, as WOW Air expands its offer to California. Flights to San Francisco will increase from five a week to seven, i.e. one daily flight, while the service to Los Angeles will also become daily next spring, with the addition of three extra flights a week.
Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW air, commented: "Paris is a major market for us and the results following the opening of our new transatlantic routes this year have been extremely positive. As a result, we are now able to increase our frequencies from Paris and continue to transform the landscape of transatlantic low-cost travel."
The airline, which offers routes from Reykjavik to Boston, New York and Washington on the eastern seaboard of the United States, as well as Montreal and Toronto in Canada, will be adding an eighth destination in North America next spring, Miami.
At the same time, WOW Air, which in addition to Paris CDG also serves Lyon and Nice in France, is continuing to expand its fleet. It should be operating 17 Airbus aircraft by the end of next year, thanks in particular to an order for four Airbus A321s, two of which will be delivered in 2017 and the remaining two in 2018.
