These better times are still a long way off, but the rail operator has decided to launch its low-cost trains all the same. On 24 January, RENFE's 80th birthday, sales began on the company's own website.Avlo for the four daily trains between Madrid to Figueres via Barcelona.
The launch fare of five euros one way generated 100,000 sales immediately. This special rate will remain on sale until mid-February. Tickets for Avlo are since 1 February also available on the RENFE's classic sales site.
Four journeys a day
Along the north-east high-speed corridor, two trains will run non-stop between Madrid and Barcelona morning and eveningoffering an alternative for business travellers. The journey takes 2? hours. In the middle of the day, the train also stops at Zaragoza. Finally, in the evening, an Avlo will act as an "omnibus". It will make stops in Guadalajara, Calatayud, Zaragoza, Lleida, Tarragona and Girona, in addition to the Catalan capital. The timetables are valid until 11 December 2021. As with the SNCF's OUIGO trains, Avlo offers a range of additional services at extra cost. The cost is eight euros to cancel or change your ticket and also eight euros to reserve a seat. Passengers may amend or cancel their ticket up to 30 minutes before departure.
Finally, if the rate includes a hand luggage and a cabin suitcase (55x35x25 cm), you have to pay ten euros for a large piece of luggage. The good news is: electric socket and wifi are included in the tariff offer.
Alongside the launch of Avlo special rates, the RENFE is offering a special anniversary promotion until 14 February for its AVE high-speed trains. This promotion is valid for journeys made between 23 June and 11 December. The offer starts at 15 euros one way.
