Another African country has decided to cross the Rubicon in terms of lifting travel restrictions. Malawi, State ofSouthern Africa landlocked between Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia, has decided to unilaterally lift the visa requirement to the citizens of 47 countries.
The Minister for Internal Security, Ken Zikhałe, announced this change to immigration regulations. Among other things, it allows visitors from United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Canada, Belgium or France to go to the country.
The Malawian government has identified these countries as crucial markets for international tourism and business travellers. The arrival of visitors would help to alleviate the shortage of foreign currency.
On the other hand, citizens of Luxembourg and Switzerland are still required to obtain a visa. It is available online and costs 50 dollars.
The government has also announced that obtaining a multi-entry visa now valid for 12 months.
