Thalys launches an invitation to an olfactory journey

Thalys is once again playing the originality card to encourage the general public to discover new things. Since 12 September, and until the end of the weekthe railway company is offering Parisians the chance to travel to Amsterdam, Cologne and even Brussels and ParisWithout leaving the Marais, without even getting to the Gare du Nord. In the Galerie Joseph on rue Charlot, 64 capsules have been brought together under an artistic canopy. They contain as many scents specific to each of the Thalys destinations, for an olfactory stroll imbued with poetry, baptised Thalys Scents of the City.

  • Thalys launches an invitation to an olfactory journey

From a buttered sandwich in a Parisian café - dubbed "P'tit dèj sur le zinc" - to the unique atmosphere of Cologne Cathedral, visitors are invited to inhale the fragrance of great monuments and characteristic little corners. The results: an irresistible "Proust's madeleine" effect for some fragrances, and an irrepressible desire to jump on the bandwagon in most cases.

This seduction operation, devised with the Rosapark agency, is not a first for Thalys, which is already used to doing this. An olfactory - and ephemeral - travel agency was already offered to the Brussels public last May. In 2015, it was on the equally promising theme of sound that the company made its debut. Sounds of the City explored the sounds of European destinations.
