Immersive headsets have been trialled by Air France since 1 August

Buoyed by innovations on the ground, the in-flight entertainment systems are in the throes of radical change. This is illustrated by the latest experiment by Air France, which launched a test phase on 1 August based on virtual reality headsets. Equipped with these, the luckiest travellers will be able to view films and series screened in 3D or 2Dand thus " literally plunge travellers into the heart of the film "says Air France.

Air France's experiment is being carried out in partnership with the start-up SkyLights.

The scope of this experiment - developed in partnership with the start-up SkyLights - remains limited for the moment. Four helmets are being offered on board the A340 business class providing the link Paris-Charles de Gaulle - Saint Martin. These headsets include a selection of around forty films and series. But if they prove a success, Air France has no intention of extending the offer: " At the end of this test period, the new system could be deployed on other flights in the coming months. "warns the company. Air France recently announced its ambitions in the field of new technologies at theViva Technology event organised in Paris last June.
