Vueling should be able to launch nine daily return flights from Orly after receiving all 18 slots released by Air France in exchange for the European Commission's green light for its recapitalisation. New routes should begin operating from November.
Vueling is already the third largest airline operator at Paris Orly in terms of number of frequencies. The airline is offering 157,400 seats in September, just behind Transavia with 286,000 seats and Air France with 250,000 seats.
Vueling should further consolidate this position, particularly after receiving all the slots relinquished by Air France. The abandonment of eighteen slots had been one of the European Commission's conditions for authorising the French government's recapitalisation of the airline.
As a result, Vueling will be able to offer 9 additional round trips. Italy in particular should benefit from several new routes with Paris. However, no indication has yet been given of the destinations envisaged. They should, however, become public knowledge very quickly. The IAG subsidiary currently serves 20 destinations from Orly, including 14 to Spain alone.
